![]() PROJECT: Major Utility Plan of Reorganization (POR) ProjectThe bankrupty proceedings for a west coast major utility required a Plan of Reorganization (POR) filing. The utility's initial proposal was to separate the electrical transmission from the gas transmission business. Unfortunately though, these two divisions of this utility shared many of the company's assets like office buildings, service yards, phone systems, etc.As a result of the sharing of assets between these two divisions, a plan to separate them had to be implemented. Traditionally, the utility's real estate department did this type of work but was no where near prepared to take on the work load of such a large separation. Previous employment with this major utility provided an additional resource for the POR work because of familiarity with the internal bureaucracy process for their Project Management. Therefore, for two years, management services were utilized as a Project Manager responsible for multiple site's. The management responsibilities were numeours including relocation of assets from complete office buildings to having a new 9 wide portable office installed at a service yard and the construction of a vehicle wash rack. These management services were primarily used as a contract Project Manager working on projects as large as $1M+ budgets. |
