![]() Rosemount model 3051S Multivariable Flow TransmitterPROJECT: Facility Steam Usage Metering ProjectA west coast state prison facility requested that they have installed the ability to meter the amount of steam energy used in their laundry facility with the intention of charging the laundry contractor a usage fee. A request was made of engineering services to provide an instrument design, material specification, installation construction design, and instrument programming configuration. The HART programmable Rosemount 3051S Multivariable differential pressure transmitter mounted directly to the flow orifice adapter plate was the chosen instrument. The transmitter programming configuration was performed by the Rosemount software from a laptop PC using a HART modem and configured so that the 4-20mA output signal was equivalent to units of the rate of energy use (Btu/hr). RESULTS• Provided the material specification, purchase requisition, instrument software configuration using the AMS software for a Rosemount differential pressure transmitter configured to measure the energy usage of steam at saturated conditions. • Completed the programming configuration of all the Contrec meter parameters necessary to use this microprocessor flow computer indication device as the site's energy meter. • Completed all bench testing of the full system which included the Rosemount 3051SMV transmitter providing a signal to the Contrec's flow computer. |
